Located on the second floor, Honkala is a bright and meticulously restored 45 m² apartment in the heart of the iconic 1930s "forest suburb" designed by Alvar Aalto. We have renovated the home using traditional building methods and authentic materials, honoring the original architecture, craftsmanship, and the soulful spirit of the era.
The interior is thoughtfully curated and furnished primarily with original pieces designed by Alvar and Aino Aalto. During the restoration in the spring of 2025, our focus was on preserving the original proportions, surfaces, and atmosphere, allowing the beauty of 1930s functionalism to truly shine. Modern comforts have been integrated discreetly to maintain the apartment’s historic character.
